Ting-Yun Chen is a versatile musician. Before studying music therapy, Ting- Yun has performed in different settings and won numerous awards both in Taiwan and in the U.S. Moreover, Ting-Yun’s passion for music extends beyond her career in piano. She came to the U.S. to be trained as a music therapist. Upon completing her internship at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, Ting-Yun received her board certification in music therapy in August of 2017. Now she is providing music therapy to several school districts mainly working with children with special needs, including but not limited to, ASD, ID/DD, and learning disabilities.
Ting-Yun integrates her educational background and experiences as a pianist, a piano teacher, and a music therapist into her piano teaching. Not just with
patience and passion, she observes students’ needs and strengths and strives to develop their musical skills, technical skills, and creativity as an individual.
Ting-Yun believes that playing the piano is one of the ways to self-realization and self-expression, so it is her role as an educator to facilitate and motivate
each student in finding a successful way to understand and master each composition.
